Konkani Food Fest
The southern part of India is a treasure trove of lesser-known cuisines that have been preserved and passed on through generations with their authenticity and essence intact. Konkani cuisine is one such hidden gem. At Podi & Poriyal, it has always been our endeavour to put such cuisines on a global platform with Bhojana Collaboration. It is a unique initiative where we team up with talented home chefs to offer our guests and patrons a taste of South India's best kept gastronomic secrets.
We kickstarted the Bhojana Collab with a delightful Konkani Food Festival with Singapore-based talented home chef and social media influencer, Ms Arundhati Raghavan, also popularly known as 'the singing chef'.
Originating from the Konkan region, a beautiful stretch of land along the South-Western coast of India dotted with stunning beaches and ancient forts, Konkani cuisine is one of the most delicious traditional cuisines one could stumble upon. The Konkani Food Fest at Podi & Poriyal gave our guests a peek into this delightful cuisine.
From the unique Patrode Ghassi, Rulaama Doddak, Surnoli and Amshe Mitshe Sandan to the flavourful Palak Dali Ambat, Batata Saung and Kaela Phodiyo, this menu took our taste buds on a journey of a lifetime. And, with exciting mocktails and cocktails such as Sol de Konkan, Naarl Lime Spritzer and Kokum Mojito adding to the culinary revelry, it was an experience like no other.
The Konkani Food Fest was a grand success. Guests from all walks of life were enthralled with the exotic dishes and the unique flavours on display. Never-heard-of-ingredients used to make authentic Konkani dishes took every diner on an adventure while the restaurant was buzzing with excited chatter and stories about this little-known cuisine.
We hope to team up with more talented chefs in the future and keep the Bhojana Collaboration going. Bringing you the very best of South Indian fare and taking you on a journey across different parts of the region, one dish at a time.
